For a fun SPECIAL EVENT, we are going to OLD TOWN San Diego on THURSDAY, JUNE 25. We will take the Coaster from the Oceanside Transit Center at 195 S, Tremont St., leaving at 10.36 AM on the #632 and arriving in OLD TOWN at 11.31. Please buy your ticket at the ticket vending machines at the Transit Center. Select the SENIOR RATE DAY PASS for $7.50 — round trip. Or you can catch the COASTER along one of its stops along the route. Upon arrival in OLD TOWN, a short walk from the train station will bring us into the restaurant area where we will have lunch. After lunch, we have lots of choices. Some popular shops are Toby”s Candle and Soap Shop where you can make your own Candles from $4-$8. Another choice is Cousins Candies which feature homemade taffy and chocolate. Also, OLD TOWN MARKET PLACE for hand crafted items, jewelry, and pottery. There is also the historic haunted WHALEY HOUSE. Self-guided tours are available, lasting 30-40 min. Tickets available on site costing $15. And don’t forget the EARLY AMERICA section where you can see original buildings like the old fashioned schoolhouse and Dr. and Dentist office. Because you have a Day Pass, you have your choice of departure times, either the 3:47 or 4:42. The 4:42 gives more time to explore and arrives back in Oceanside at 5:22.
